Now for a weekly update on all things USF Bulls thanks to Greg Auman over at the St. Pete Times for constant USF updates….

  •    Football coach Jim Leavitt has received a new contract extension. The contract is reportedly worth $12.6 million over the next 7 years. Leavitt has led the Bulls from day one here and last season saw them ranked as high as number 2 in the BCS rankings the week they opened. With what’s gone on with college coaches over the last few years, namely Nick Saban and Rich Rodriguez, I don’t get too excited over these new contracts but Leavitt has definitely earned it. Congrats coach!
  •    In what has been a dismal season of USF basketball two players have received honors. Senior C Kentrell Gransbury was named to the All Big East first team after leading the conference in rebounding for the second straight year. Also freshman guard Dominique Jones was named to the Big East all rookie team.
  •    The USF women’s b-ball team is still in contention for a spot in the NIT tourny at 16-15 and it looks as if they make it they’ll be without senior forward ChiChi Okpaleke after she tore her MCL in the win over Marquette last week. Also missing will be freshman guard Gianna Messina who has a bad case of mono. Things are just not right in USF basketball land right now.
