A couple notes from the Bolts over the weekend….

  •    Mike Smith pitched his first shutout for the Lightning over the weekend. It was a 3-0 victory over the Rangers at home and the defense looked great! This is the point I’ve been making with the Bolts and their goalies. If the defense plays better and stops bunching up in front of the goal, all of our goalies will look better. Taking nothing away from Smith and the shutout he posted, he stopped 20 out of 20 shots, if the defense gets out on the shooters and stops making the goalie do all the work this is a playoff team. Keep it up Bolts and Congrats Mike!
  •    There is a story over on Yahoo Sports that the Lightning need to focus on re-signing Vinny Lecavalier. Yes I agree completely! This guy is the face of our franchise and we should not have to worry next year about his contract. I hope the Bolts get this done early in the off-season so it doesn’t become a distraction.
  •    In a minor note Yahoo Sports is reporting that the Lightning called up D Matt Smaby this morning.
