The Rays lost to the Phillies 4-2 today but Evan Longoria continues to prove he should be the opening day third baseman. As everyone seems to know at this point this guy is a pure hitter and there is officially no excuse for the Rays to send him down for “more seasoning”. If the Rays send him down now it’s purely financial, to delay his free agency clock, and in a time where everyone is finally buzzing about this team being competitive and no far from playoff contention that would be inexcusable! What else must he do? He hits, plays above average defense and carries himself like a professional (see Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes). Ne we say more?
