Busy little Bolts.

In the last month the Lightning have gone from the least talked about team in the NHL to the most talked about. They have been bought by Oren Koules and gang (finally), hired the Mullet, traded Dan Boyle and oh god let’s stop for a second. I’ll list all the moves by date below [...]

Ok, I’m back!

Sorry to everyone for all the delays in getting back on here but I had some setbacks and what not. I’m putting together some posts right now for the Rays and Lightning as there is a ton to talk about here. In the meantime I encourage everyone to check out DRaysBay today. They’ve got [...]

More Lightning advertisement fun!

Here we go again. The Lightning rolled out there new sign on the side of the Stadium this week and it seems they screwed up again. This time it was noticed right away (as opposed to the whole Denis thing where he was still pictured on the stadium after being demoted) and will be [...]

The Mullet is coming!

It’s now official according to ESPN, Barry Melrose is the new Head Coach of our beloved Tampa Bay Lightning. This has been speculated on for a while, and now that the new ownership group has been approved it will be announced today at a press conference. Melrose hasn’t coached since 1995 and only coached [...]

Those poor Bolts are so neglected!

With everything being so busy I’ve been neglecting our Lightning. Well I’ve finally mustered up some recent news for the Bolts fans.

The NHL’s Board of Governor’s unanimously approved the sale of the Lightning to the new ownership group headed by Oren Koules. We all new this was coming, but the fiasco still isn’t over. [...]

Farewell Torts, we’ll always have Calgary!

The Lightning have officially let Head Coach John Tortorella go and the Stanley Cup winning coach is now available to be signed. It’s a sad day even though it may be welcomed by some fans and players. Torts was always a very strict coach who required alot of his players, made everyone accountable and [...]

The Lightning are a mess!

The Tampa Bay Lightning seem to be caught in a whirlwind of strange crap right now. The new ownership group headed by Oren Koules are giving a weird vibe with some of the stuff they’re doing. They apparently orchestrated the questionable Brad Richards/Mike Smith swap. Now there are rumors flying (out of Canada first again) that Barry [...]

Artyukhin coming back?

There is a post by Damian Cristodero that seems to be picking up steam. It’s circulating all over the net now that the Bolts and Evgeny Artyukhin may be finally working things out. Atryukhin has played in his native Russia the last two seasons over contract disputes with the Lightning. It looks like both sides [...]

Vinny has surgery.

Lightning center Vinny Lecavalier had his shoulder surgery today and it appears all went well. This is thanks of course in large part to renowned orthopedist James Andrews. Andrews has been repairing baseball players for years and is the most wanted man when it comes to these types of procedures. Vinny still needs to [...]

Email answers

The Bucs have a busy week ahead of them with the draft less than two weeks away. They’re bringing in all types of hyped up potential draft picks. Just to make things clear for everyone I will report on the draft itself when picks are made and will continue to cover what actually happens. [...]

Lightning get top pick in draft.

Well at least something good happened this season. The Lightning won the draft lottery against what Jay Feaster thought. According to the St. Pete Times the Lightning are looking at drafting hot shot Center Steve Stamkos. There are some things to catch up on with the Bolts so we’ll put something together shortly.

Lightning report-Lottery, Torts is pissed.

A couple things of note here. Damian Cristodero has put up an explanation of the draft lottery and broke it down pretty nice. The way things are going the Bolts have a pretty good shot at the number one pick. On the dark side of things it sounds like coach John Tortorella is about [...]

Lightning report-Please end now!

There’s not much to report with the Lightning anymore, especially anything good. I’m really looking forward to the off-season. They are currently being pummeled by Carolina 5-1 and I’m glad to be watching the Rays instead. That’s not something I thought I’d be saying this time of year but there it is. There’s a few [...]

Denis is back!

With the recent injury to newly acquired starting goaltender Mike Smith the Bolts have recalled Marc Denis. Surprisingly Denis cleared recall waivers (not really) and will back up Karri Ramo until Smith is healthy. I know it’s only temporary but it’s quite unsettling knowing Denis is one step from playing here again. Nothing really [...]

Lightning report-Lecavalier, Mike Smith shutout.

A couple notes from the Bolts over the weekend….

Mike Smith pitched his first shutout for the Lightning over the weekend. It was a 3-0 victory over the Rangers at home and the defense looked great! This is the point I’ve been making with the Bolts and their goalies. If the defense plays better [...]

Lightning report

The Bolts won Tuesday night in a crazy game with the Islanders 8-4, a game in which Vinny Lecavalier hat a hat-trick. Catching up on things a little there are a couple piece’s by Damian Cristodero.

One piece Damian wrote was about Karri Ramo’s willingness to fight for his job.
In a piece this morning [...]

Lightning report

Not a whole lot for the Bolts but here’s what I found today….

The team has sent defenseman Andre Roy home. It appears the Bolts have suspended Roy for a week with pay after his emotional outburst last week. It’s been talked about now that the problem was not necessarily Roy exploding on the bench, [...]

Lightning report

The cellar-dwelling Bolts lost another last night and there is no end in sight to this hideous season. The worst part of the losses are that most of them come late in the 3rd period of games they could win. It’s very hard to swallow but it’s encouraging at the same time because they’re [...]

Roy sent home.

As I speculated this morning the Bolts are taking action against Andre Roy. Roy, who went nuts after his second fight which resulted in the defensman’s beating, has been sent home and according to Lightning spokesman Bill Wickett will not return to the team on the current road trip. Roy has always been a [...]
